The European Cool Roofs Council (ECRC) is an international non-profit association whose initiatives are driven and paid for by its members. It is a voluntary organization that brings value by promoting the benefits of cool roofing products to regulators, policy makers, consumers and other stakeholders. It aims to develop scientific knowledge and research in relation to “cool roof" technology and to promote the use of cool roof products and materials in Europe, including developing a product rating programme for such products and materials.

Job description: The main role of the ECRC technical consultant will be to assist the ECRC technical committee in setting up the ECRC product rating programme. More specifically, the successful candidate would be expected to:
a. Finalise the radiative property measurement standards suitable for inclusion in the Product Rating Programme
b. Identify and participate in appropriate CEN Tech / Standards committees to seek European harmonisation for radiative property measurement standards.
c. Draft, review, edit and publish a Product Rating Manual
d. Identify and help in the accreditation of Testing and Weathering Laboratories
In addition, the successful candidate would also support the activities of the ECRC Technical Committee by assisting in the:
a. Set up of the Product Rating scheme with the ECRC technical committee.
b. Participation, follow up and management of ECRC technical committee activities
c. Production of information pack for interested parties.
d. Support Policy and Outreach Committee's activities with Stakeholders
The ECRC technical consultant will work from his/her current location, however frequent communication with the TC leader and members and the ECRC via conference calls and/or physical meetings will be required.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must have direct experience of working on European standard organisations and/or demonstrate a "working knowledge" of processes involved in standards development.A thorough knowledge of the technical aspects of the roofing business and issues involving measurement of radiative properties, weathering testing of roofing materials, production procedures and product types are highly desirable and should be attested by an advanced degree in a related field (e.g. energy efficiency, sustainable materials for the built environment) and relevant work experience. Experience in setting up product rating schemes will be considered an asset. The candidate should have a vast experience in preparing reports. Excellent knowledge of the English language is required.
